Mold remediation in Jupiter, Florida
Jupiter is the newest housing stock we work in, and new construction has its own mold profile. Tight houses do not forgive an oversized air conditioner.
Housing stock Jupiter shares with Weston — which is why the failure modes below are the same in all of them.
Abacoa came out of the ground starting in 1998, Egret Landing and the Central Boulevard corridor filled in around the same era, and much of what is east of Alternate A1A has been rebuilt or heavily renovated since. This is post-Andrew, post-2001-code construction: tight envelopes, good windows, better insulation, and substantially less accidental air exchange than anything in the older markets to the south.
That is a good thing for energy and a demanding thing for moisture. A tight house has no passive way to shed interior humidity. If the air conditioner is correctly sized and running long cycles, the house stays at 50% RH and everything is fine. If it is oversized — and oversizing is still the default in new residential installs — the house runs cold and damp, and the mold shows up in closets, behind furniture on exterior walls, and around the AC registers.
Jupiter Farms is a separate case entirely: large lots, well water, septic, and a fair amount of modular and manufactured housing. Well water with high iron and sulfur, condensation on uninsulated supply piping, and crawl-adjacent construction produce problems that do not exist five miles east.
What we see most often in Jupiter
- Oversized equipment in tight housesShort cycles, cold clammy interiors, and 65% RH at a 73°F thermostat reading. Extremely common in the Abacoa-era stock.
- Closets and furniture-backed exterior wallsThe first surfaces to go in a high-humidity house, because they have poor air circulation and sit slightly cooler than the room.
- Coastal salt corrosion near the InletCondenser and coil degradation east of A1A, in Jupiter Inlet Colony, and along the waterfront in Admirals Cove.
- Jupiter Farms well-water and septic conditionsUninsulated supply piping sweating in wall cavities, and a different construction vocabulary from the planned communities.
- Missing whole-house dehumidificationThe single most under-installed piece of equipment in new Florida construction, and often the actual solution.
- Second-floor laundry roomsStandard in the newer two-story plans. A braided supply hose that fails upstairs discharges into the ceiling of whatever is below it, and unlike a ground-floor failure there is no floor drain and nothing to contain it.
What we do in Jupiter
The same six services run across Palm Beach County, and which of them a job turns into depends on what is actually happening — in Jupiter that usually starts with oversized equipment in tight houses.

Mold questions from Jupiter homeowners
My house was built in 2015. Why is the humidity so high?
Because it was built well. A tight, code-current house has very little uncontrolled air exchange, so the air conditioner is the only mechanism removing interior moisture — and an oversized system satisfies the thermostat before it has run long enough to do that. We measure indoor RH and dew point over a full day rather than taking a spot reading, and the fix in newer Jupiter homes is frequently a whole-house dehumidifier and a fan-profile change rather than any remediation at all.
Does being near the Inlet or the ocean cause mold?
Salt air is hard on equipment — condenser coils, fin packs, and any exposed metal degrade faster east of A1A. A corroded coil holds debris and moisture differently and is harder to clean effectively. But proximity to the water does not raise your indoor humidity on its own. That is still a function of the envelope and the air conditioning.
Do you cover Jupiter Farms and Tequesta?
Yes. Jupiter Farms takes a bit longer to reach and the construction out there is genuinely different from Abacoa, so we schedule accordingly. Tequesta, Juno Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and North Palm Beach are all inside our normal service area.
Our washing machine is upstairs. Should we be doing anything about that?
Three cheap things. Replace braided stainless supply hoses on a schedule rather than waiting — they fail without warning and they are the most common sudden water loss we see. Put the machine in a drain pan that is actually plumbed to a drain rather than one that just sits there. And if the house is ever empty for more than a few days, shut the laundry valves; a quarter turn costs nothing and removes the whole category of risk.
